Tools Used

I use Adobe Photoshop CC for painting and editing my illustrations. Many of my older speedpaints were done in a free digital program called Medibang Paint (which I highly recommend for beginner artists!). I switched to using Photoshop as my main art program in late 2018 to further improve my work. My tablet is the Wacom MobileStudio Pro 13, which I purchased in 2016. I record my screen using OBS and edit all my videos in Adobe Premiere Pro.

FAQ

How long did this take?
It varies! If it’s a five minute long video, then between 3 to 4 hours. If its between 7-10 minutes, it was probably a bigger piece which can take anywhere between 10-15 hours.

Where did you get your brushes?
Most of the brushes you see me use are with from the Kyle Brush packs (mainly the ‘Real Oils’ from the Megapack, available to all Photoshop CC users) or from Andreas Rocha’s brush pack (given out as a Patreon reward).

What canvas size do you draw on?
My canvas size is usually around 3000px on the short side and upwards of 5000px on the long side. With a resolution of around 300 – 350 dpi.

How do I commission you?
I open commissions around 3 times a year and accept in batches of 10-15. For all my prices and info, visit: https://www.clockbirds.com/commissions

  1. what have you guys been trying to improve on this month? i've started a new sketchbook and have been doing a lot of face studies the past week! (i'm still pretty bad at them though eheheh ^^;;) that being said, every time i've sat myself down to focus on studies, it's greatly improved my work in those particular aspects on my own pieces. for example, a while ago i did a few master studies of works by clyde aspevig, who paints a lot of really lovely mountain landscape scenes. the studies really educated how i render rocks and while there was no immediate improvement i feel like i'm cumulatively reaping the benefits of those studies now with every new painting i do =^u^=

  2. The nightsky is perfect! The song fits the theme, and the POV is spot on! I love how creative the background is. Overall I love every single detail of this artwork. You are so amazing! (●□●)/

  3. I’d like to add that your art gives me such peace. We live in such a cruel world, but the way you portray EVERY SINGLE piece of artwork makes me so happy? It gives off such a positive, aesthetic vibe, I have no words. Sometimes I wish I could just leap into your artworks and live that moment for myself. Your art is absolutely incredible, and I hope to commission you one day as a way of showing you how much respect I give to you. To be able to make pieces of artwork that make so many people feel at peace?? That’s an incredible talent, and I do hope you continue your creations. I am utterly speechless whenever you upload any speedpaints. The music, the theme, the colours… I’ve cried so much just looking at your art because all I want is to leap into it and live there, in that peaceful world that you’ve portrayed. You are such an amazing inspiration and I cannot tell you how much your art has impacted my view in life. Your artwork makes me calm and settled whenever I’m upset or moody. I would absolutely love to be able to draw like you one day, and that is the honest truth, you are such an inspiration oh my god. Never stop doing art, I can’t even give words for how much I adore every single artwork you post. Have a good day 💖

Edit;; reminds me, could I ask about commission prices and when they’ll be open ? thanks so much 💖💖

  4. this is so cool! I love the way you make the environment and the animal itself is just stunning! Just as reference, before you begin drawing do you make thumbnails to decide format first?

  5. Also if you talk in ur videos u would no longer have to give updates in the comments or description. U could just say what u need to say in the speed draw. One more thing srry, when u speak from what I see on other channels talking in ur speed draws attract more viewers rather than a song. 🙃
