  1. Long Rant Ahead!

I keep coming back to this video because it just looks so amazing. I’m a beginner and am hoping to be a professional illustrator someday, but i have a long way to go. I’m already in 12th grade so i feel that i’m too late. Putting that aside, i love coming back to this and just trying to learn from your work even though it’s a bit hard because it’s a speed paint hahaha. But at times, instead of learning, i instead feel envious and bad because these days i haven’t been drawing well. I know I shouldn’t, but I also keep comparing myself to professionals. It doesn’t help that there are people my age who already draw so well. It’s entirely my fault tho!— i haven’t even once tried sitting down to learn the basics yet because i feel impatient, and i simply want to learn by drawing it myself. I keep thinking that maybe if i draw long enough, I won’t need to learn the basics. Though i know that just makes me arrogant, that’s why i want to stop thinking like that. And basically whenever i draw something good, it’s only because i got lucky and not because i know how proportions, perspectives or shading works. I want to stop feeling impatient and i think part of the reason why I’m impatient in the first place is because like i said i feel like i started too late in digital art. It’s pretty much the same for traditional art— though i’ve had it as a hobby since i was a kid, i never really learned about the basics— i only drew for fun. I know i need to stop doing that,—drawing without knowledge and expecting something good to come out.

Even after all that, i still don’t want to give up! I still love drawing after all. I find the process fun. I want to reach the same level as you, and unlock my full potential. I want to be able to create my own style and make original poses, and not just faithfully copying off a reference.

If you’ve read this far, thank you. 🙂 i just needed a place to vent.
