Tools Used

I use Adobe Photoshop CC for painting and editing my illustrations. Many of my older speedpaints were done in a free digital program called Medibang Paint (which I highly recommend for beginner artists!). I switched to using Photoshop as my main art program in late 2018 to further improve my work. My tablet is the Wacom MobileStudio Pro 13, which I purchased in 2016. I record my screen using OBS and edit all my videos in Adobe Premiere Pro.

FAQ

How long did this take?
It varies! If it’s a five minute long video, then between 3 to 4 hours. If its between 7-10 minutes, it was probably a bigger piece which can take anywhere between 10-15 hours.

Where did you get your brushes?
Most of the brushes you see me use are with from the Kyle Brush packs (mainly the ‘Real Oils’ from the Megapack, available to all Photoshop CC users) or from Andreas Rocha’s brush pack (given out as a Patreon reward).

What canvas size do you draw on?
My canvas size is usually around 3000px on the short side and upwards of 5000px on the long side. With a resolution of around 300 – 350 dpi.

How do I commission you?
I open commissions around 3 times a year and accept in batches of 10-15. For all my prices and info, visit: https://www.clockbirds.com/commissions

  1. Omg the music and they way I see the feel of this piece its really fits together the way i see it. The way the shadows and how the light hits it gives a really great atmosphere. Nice choice of contrast clockbirds ❤

  2. Can we get a tutorial for photoshop? I don’t like medibang because it kills the screen quality and I love how photoshop bees everything sharp when working in it. Would like to see how big the differences are because I’m struggling because there are no tools like “ease of mixing colors and so on” so it’s hard to create fur like how you do in your medibang tutorial.

  3. Clockbirds (Jax) Could we talk about this work of art? my god I can not even explain how I loved to see you draw with the beautiful delicate strokes effects in the drawing that you give, I have been following your channel for a long time but almost never said anything and I was always amazed how you gave a real atmosphere for the character and the ideal size without the wrong proportion, when I was watching said: -My God when it was that my favorite designer was to make a cute style pokémon was when I came across that it was a commission but really is very nice also the tree and the flower petals can not say anything about it, keep up the good work.

  5. As always, marvelously done!

PS. Guys, I know this probably isn't the place to ask, but Google was of no help at all. 🙁 When I set my brush size above 100, my tablet no longer draws (mouse works fine), but below 100 it's just fine, any advice?

  7. All of your art is so beautiful and mystical, the details and textures of everything are just stunning. I absolutely love your work and the amount of effort and time you put into each fantastic piece leaves me speechless. Also, I'm beginning to use Photoshop and I was wondering what brushes you use, if you could tell me that'd be amazing!

  8. I'm so happy to see another one of your fantastic videos! But it sadly means no more Medibang tutorials…
I'm sorry if I'm rude to ask this, but what happened to your profile picture? And will you ever make any Medibang tutorials anymore?

  10. First of all, amazing piece and art:0

Second of all, I was wondering if you had an iPad? I think that it would be fun if you tried out the app procreate(yes it cost $10, so I understand if you wouldn't want too^^)

I use that, and I want to see what you could make with it, as not a lot of people use procreate, and I know that youd make some godly stuff with it.

If not procreate, another drawing app? (Ex Autodesk sketchbook, etc)^^ itll help challenge you too
